Are we on the brink of a second American Revolution?
For some time now I've been wondering if all this homeland security stuff might actually be intended to put down a rebellion within our country. Sure that sound paranoid, but doay I read this really scary excerpt apparently from some unbalance gun lobbyist or some sort,

"Firearms stand next in importance to the constitution itself. They are the American people's liberty teeth and keystone under independence … from the hour the Pilgrims landed to the present day, events, occurences and tendencies prove that to ensure peace security and happiness, the rifle and pistol are equally indispensable … the very atmosphere of firearms anywhere restrains evil interference — they deserve a place of honor with all that's good."

Yeah, I bet he sleeps with it. Some folx just need therapy more than others I guess.

That's George Washington's quote

FYI, that quote is from George Washington, Commanding General of the Continental Army, First President of the United States in a speech to Congress, January 7, 1790. He knew, firsthand, how important gun ownership -- by which is meant the same kind and power of gun used by the goverment -- was to wrest a new independence and freedom from an oppressive government.

While it is arguable that we no longer need (or can obtain) weaponry parity with the government in order to secure our liberties, at the time it was blatently obvious that governments could become oppressive, and a proper response was a well-armed rebellion by a citizen militia.
