OHIO RECOUNT PETITION --Pass It On!
David Cobb (G) and Michael Badnarik (L) have announced that they will be filing a formal petition for a full recount of the state of Ohio. Apparently Ohio state law allows them to do this regardless of the outcome margin, but they have to pick up the costs.

The estimate cost to file this petition is on the order of 110K dollars. They are accepting donations now. They need to have the funds by the 15th. Cobbs site will accept credit cards, Paypal, [read fixx comment if you had difficulty paying with PayPal] and there was some sort of check option as well.

Badnarik's site doesn't have much detail yet, other than a note that they are doing it; there is much more info on Cobbs site.

Even if you don't think a recount would change the results, it might bring far more of the voting irregularites and problems with the various voting machine systems into public view.

Feel free to copy any or all of this text in order to get the word out. Also feel free to link to this notice in your LJ if that is easier for you.

I would advise you when donating to think about how much 4 more years of Bush is going to cost us. I am as yet undecided about how much I am going to donate, but as I see it $110K is really only 1100 $100 donations (or 2200 $50 donations) and I figure most of us would gladly part with $50 to buy a recount in Ohio, so my guess is we could probably get enough donations out of LJ users alone!

Can you donate fifty bucks for me..

and I will pay you back the next time I see you? The only money transfer option I have right now is by cheque and it probably wouldn't reach them in time.

Consider it done.

I've had one vote of support for the "Rogue Pharmacists" community and I may be doing that today as well.

Re: Can you donate fifty bucks for me..

This is to confirm that I donated the requested $50 on your behalf as well as $100 from myself. There is a problem regarding using paypal for donations which they are already aware of. I've discovered a solution and will be posting it momentarily

Re: Can you donate fifty bucks for me..

I did it through the Cobb web site but the money is earmarked specifically for the recount.

READ If you wish to make your donation using PayPal

After you fill out your contact information, when you get the screen which gives you the choice of donating with PayPal or credit card, try clicking on Paypal. If it does not work, turn down your Firewall Protection (from high to medium if using Zone Alarm) otherwise turn off any PopUp blocker you are using, and try again

After you have loaded the paypal donation screen you may immediately raise your firewall protection to full and feel safe again, and the PayPal page will work correctly even with the firewall on full.
