This is the problem with LJ: we all think we are so close, but in… - One person's lack of compassion does not equal another's comfort.
One person's lack of comprehension does not equal another's consent.

This is the problem with LJ: we all think we are so close, but in actuality we know nothing about each other. I'm going to rectify it. I want you to ask me something you think you should know about me. Something that should be obvious, but you have no idea about. Ask away.

Then post this in your LJ and find out what people don't know about you.

I might have just forgotten, rather than not knowing, but...

Where did you grow up? Not where were you born, but where did you spend your life up until you were...18?

Re: I might have just forgotten, rather than not knowing, but...

Right here, in Potomac Maryland and in the very house into which I returned in one year ago and currently reside. It is either sad or heartwarming, not sure. I'll have to get back to you on that.

Re: I might have just forgotten, rather than not knowing, but...

Little of both, maybe. Definitely frugal. ;) If it's any consolation, I tried to convince my mom to sell me my grandmother's house after she passed away...

I also grew up in Montgomery County. I lived in Bethesda until I was 13, then Mom and I moved to Montgomery Village and Grandma to Rockville. I spent my teen years between the two town. When I was 20, I moved to Germantown. Since then, I have: Lived in Nebraska, about 1/2 hour from Lincoln for a year and a half, lived in Frederick for a few months, and bounced back and forth between the Silver Spring and Gaithersburg areas for who-knows-how-long. :P

At one time my ex, B, and I were talking about relocating to Arizona, but obviously that did not happen.

(More than you wanted by way of a response, I know!)

Re: I might have just forgotten, rather than not knowing, but...

No not at all. Your examples of where you've lived and for how long has given me license to go ahead and mention that although my 4 years renting that house in gaithersburg is the only solid evidence that I've ever "lived" anywhere but here in Potomac, I have in fact lived in the following other places:

two months in Israel
two months in Newcastle England
six months in Hyattsville, MD
six months in Beltsville, MD
six months in Mahwah, Northern NJ
six months in Flushing, Long Island, NY
six months in Baltimore, MD

As well as a host of other places where I stayed less than 2 concurrent months but more frequently, such as places I frequented in and around Philadelphia PA but for typically only two weeks at a time. Living like a resident, working, but not actually on any lease and not using it as an actual primary base of operations.

Re: I might have just forgotten, rather than not knowing, but...

Wow. Short a few that you've told me about, I didn't know you had bounced around so much. And the Israel and England stints? Lucky! :P

I thought I knew this but realized I didn't: Where did you go to college, and in what did you major?

College? I don't recall going to college? Why would I want do do something like that? Then again that could be my memory failing again, I probably did too much LDS at Berkley in the 60's

Really? A bit young for that, no? :)

Is this payback for saying you looked great for your age?

In case you were wondering that was a direct reference to a line from Star Trek IV -"The Voyage Home" or as I prefer to recall it, "There be whales, Captain". So many great quotes, so little time. The scene in which Kirk is trying explain to actress Catherine Hicks why Spock might think he was talking to a whale, and in doing so makes up an almost perfect alibi, except that he refers to LSD as LDS.

Spock was doing Mormons?
