New pirate themed restaurant opens in Silver Spring MD
Pirated from koralleen. This place is new, only a few months old, and it is named appropriately, Piratz Tavern. Finally area Pastafarians will have a place to meet unmolested when the Ren Faire isn't operating. Long live FSM!

I've also located these reviews, Review 1 of 2 and Review 2 of 2

DON'T mind the dire warnings about parking mentioned in one of those reviews. There is a HUGE metered parking garage behind it on Bonfant street that's free after 7pm.

More tips about what to do when you get there, behind cut:

Though I personally love the food at the Piratz and would even consider getting food from there to go when I left, if I needed to bring food to a friend, or perhaps for myself, I'm drawn by the Bombay Gaylord immediately across the street.

Depending on when you go and what other considerations your own dietary schedule may require, I recommend stopping into the Bombay Gaylord for something such as the Tandoori Chicken to go. I'm extremely particular about my Tandoori Chicken and theirs is the best I've had on this side of the Atlantic since the Minar Palace in Philadelphia changed ownership about five years ago.

i have been hearing about the tavern for a while, since it opened actually, back in October. There were some Friends of Faire who were planning to go.
Are you guys rennies at all. Cuz I know it's "garb friendly." LOL...I'm all up for getting back into my corset. :) I'm such a nerd...

I had a happy hour there in, umm, October, and it was fun (but maybe that was just me ;).
A few notes (i.e. my unsolicited two-cents worth):
Garb friendly, yes! The bar wench was corseted up, and waiters wear tights and codpieces.
They don't (or didn't yet at that point) have beer on tap, so don't go looking for a cheap buzz.
Whatever you do, stay away from those weird beans they have a bar food - I'm an adventurous eater, and don't dislike many things, but those suck.
Go for the sword swallowing demo!
Food's pretty good.
Smoking out back outside, so if you light up take yer coat.
If there's a big group of you (like ten or more) do what we did and somebody go early enough to get the center table, or a couple of the little tables off to the side -- cause the bar itself has about five stools. Really.
Theaters are right across the street, so good place for before/after a movie.
Metro accessable (orient yourself from the wama site beforehand) and plenty of free parking behind the place.

's all.
