At least that's what my friend said and I agree. Looks like Bush is trying to reinstate the draft. I for one can say I saw this coming. I even told a few people, but I'm not here to pat myself on the back now but to disseminate this information. Please read the story

"The Draft will Start in June 2005. There is pending legislation in the House and Senate (twin bills: S 89 and HR 163) which will time the program's initiation so the draft can begin at early as Spring 2005 -- just after the 2004 presidential election. The administration is quietly trying to get these bills passed now, while the public's attention is on the elections, so our action on this is needed immediately."

The gubmit is not going to reinstate the draft

Back in the Viet Nam days, it was pretty easy to hand someone a gun, put him out in the field and order him to kill or be killed, and walk away. These days the equipment is much more complicated. Putting people in charge of that equipment that don't want to be there seems to me to be begging for something bad to happen. I also seem to recall Rumsfeld saying that all the Viet Nam draftees were "pretty much useless". So I'm sure he's not going to back it. I remember hearing that there were 'reinstate the draft' bills knocking around put together by liberals to embarrass the Bushies. I suspect that the bills you refer to are them.

They are. I don't feel like looking it up now but I had a thread in my journal about it a little while back.

Not so much to embarrass as to hilight the fact that nobody in Congress has a kid in the armed forces.

this is off the subject but this was the only way to reply to this comment: Subject: Is that icon from the movie "office space"?
That character was hilarious. Thanks for reminding me!

yes, it is Milton from office space..I got the pic and made the icon myself..I even have him on my desktop page...he cracks me up with the stapler thing he has and him burning down the office building..what was kinda funny was the fact they had a stapler site with him in it and the stapler.
