Best argument yet for digital cameras - One person's lack of compassion does not equal another's comfort.

Best argument yet for digital cameras
The following story involves what appears to be a normal american family who took a disposeable camera on a camping trip and were later treated as criminals when they had the photos developed. Click Here.

There are lots of things wrong with this but the two things I find most distressing:
1) The developer claimed there were photos of children drinking alcohol. I realize that there is a possibility that the children were drinking alcohol, but at the same time, you can't test film for the presence of alcohol, so there's no way of telling what was in whatever sort of container was being used at the time

2) The developer also claimed that it appeared that one of children had his head cut off. Since that condition is usually permanent, simply showing that same child with his head still attached should have suggested to investigators that many of the photos were "artistic" and portrayed images (such as the alcohol) that did not properly represent what went on during the camping trip.

What is still disturbing is that if this happens when one family develops just one roll of film, imagine what would happen to the same family if they had a computer serviced that had the equivalent of 5 years of such digital photographs on the hard disk? Could you imagine having to account for the condition of everyone you might have camped with over a span of years?

this is ridiculous and out of control.

people have always taken pictures of their naked kids - my parents have photos of me being bathed as a baby and again mooning the camera as an older child. people need to stop being so insane over naked bodies...nakedness should not be equated with sexuality, and anyone who sees a photo like these and assumes filthy things needs to be the one questioned by authorities.
