HELP! My house is hitting critical mass! A recent project has required me to purchase a stand mixer and with my trailer suddenly "disabled" as a means of carting things off as needed, I'm needing to get serious about advertising as a means of disposing of unwanted stuff. There's not much listed this time but check back for more. Starting new Tag, "Give Aways" just for these items. (yes I know about freecycle, but for right now I'm sticking to my immediate friends (and their friends if referred)

1) 8' lengths of dry Bamboo
2) Styrofoam peanut packing material
3) Mystery novels
4) Wood chipper

1) AS much cut and dried bamboo
(from my kitchen where it is stored) as you wish to cart off. Most of the pieces are about eight feet in length and they are currently tied with twine into bundles approximately six to eight inches in diameter and I have four such bundles.

2) Styrofoam packing peanuts! Are you are an ebay power seller? I have probably about a dozen garbag bags of styrofoam peanut and shell style packing material which is going to be recycled at area shipping stores unless someone comes and takes it away.

3) Mystery novels; mostly but not entirely paperbacks. My mom was a mystery novel FREAK and I inherited the books but not the interest. Nobody I know wants them (at least not as far as I know), which is why I'm posting here. These books are free to good home. If I have to move them I will be taking them to area used book stores and collecting money mostly for my efforts.

4) A nearly new and perfectly functional electric powered wood chipper I bought and am generally dissappointed by and which I do not use. I even bought the extended warranty which may not have expired yet. It cost me about $100 on sale and I'd prefer to sell it, but I don't have the time or the space. Anyone who wants to offer dinner or a massage for this item is welcome to make the offer but I mostly just want the space it is consuming.

There's really more, but right now I can't think about it.

Re: wood chipper

Sold to the man in the front row!

I will bring it to one or both events... I think it will fit in my back seat.

Bamboo! Bamboo! Am in DESPERATE need of bamboo for four different gardening projects! Trouble is shipping to OH or MI. Do you know anyone going to either state, or can you quote me a shipping price up front? You know I hate Baltimore with a passion usually reserved for the five minutes before your sun goes Nova and have no place to crash after 10 hour drive.

Can not help asking...how did you wind up with that many packing peanuts???

fixx From: fixx Date: May 28th, 2006 09:38 pm (UTC) (Link)

I've got warrantees about to expire on expensive broken toys because I've been too lazy to ship them. Considering that, there isn't a snowball's chance in heck I'm going to put ANY effort into shipping bamboo. If you can employ friends in moving it OR if you want to pick it up on your next visit out here, and care to tell me when that will be, that's different.

You do know I'm not in "Baltimore" right? I'm in a nice suburban house house that far from where LUMSFS currently meets. As far as crashing you can crash on my house as long as you promise not to try to organize my house.

Can not help asking...how did you wind up with that many packing peanuts???

Yes, yes I'm sure you can help asking! But I'll answer your question anyway. I was saving them for a *party*. Any more questions? Gee, a man can't have a styrofoam peanut fetish without his friends outing him on LJ. Hey is this mike still on?

Considering I can't organise my purse, no threat there. But you are still a 10 hour drive. Into Heathen territory. Hmmm. Must mull. Wonder who is coming west soon. Do you happen to know anyone?

As far as your Styrofoam packing peanut fetish...that just scares my chickens.

I know lots of people *in* Ohio, some of whom have expressed a desire to come east. I don't know anyone who wishes to go there, besides possibly myself and I can't see myself doing it any time soon. I suppose Pennsic might be the nearest drop off point for people from this area if you chose to drive there to pick it up.
amazon_42 From: amazon_42 Date: May 30th, 2006 07:02 pm (UTC) (Link)

Pennsic! Brilliant! Are you going? Everyone else at LMSFST, I think, hates my guts because of how things ended with Richard (except, oddly, Richard, and I think POSSIBLY Kieth and Diane). Why didn't I think of that? And I can USE the bamboo AT Pennsic for a sheet wall or something.

And, don't worry. No one wants to go TO Ohio. It's where everyone's FROM.
fixx From: fixx Date: May 30th, 2006 07:10 pm (UTC) (Link)

Maybe if I knew how things ended with Richard I could join the club. :-) I doubt it would change my opinions either way. Please don't take this the wrong way but I never got the impression that EITHER of you would be particularly easy to have a relationship with, and considering that I think it speaks highly of the two of you that you were a couple as long as you were.

Also I think you are wrong about everyone but myself, Richard, Keith and Diane. I recall you being well liked in in general. Mind you I know you made some real enemies but that's bound to happen and if it makes you feel any better I seem to be estranged from the same set that you are.

Now as to Pennsic, I'd like to go, but having not gone in close to a decade, my biggest problem is that I'm not "in" with any camps at present. well one... maybe... a cool woman who is not on LJ who I met on OKcupid... that *might* work. Now if you could persuade me your camp would be a good place for me, we might be able to work this out.

Short answer to #1: We broke up, and whashername the exploding lifeguard made it All My Fault. In the huge double boiler that was Pennsic, we ended up in a screaming match in front of the Cooper store when she would just NOT LAY OFF. Meantime, Richard and I were, well...just fine.

Short answer to #2: It depends. Can you at least pretend to be disabled? Cos that's where Alex and I are parking our gimpy butts. You can pretend to be our PCA.....We'll be working for Alex's mom, who runs "Maison Rive", in the tudor house across from the barn, being tortured by endless repititions of "Hole in the Wall".

You had an expoding lifeguard? And you didn't invite *ME*??? I feel so left out!

I don't have to pretend to be disabled. It has been more than 11 months since my car accident and I'm still in pain. I stopped going to the chiropractor several months ago when I got to sick to go, and now I'm considering going back for more treatment. The case is still not settled because I am still not recovered.

I'd be happy to pretend to be your PCA... what is a PCA??

What is hole in the wall and by all this pretending am I also being drafted into working for someone? For that matter what is hole in the wall?

Don't *make* me name names. You know who I'm talking about. "This one time, in china..." :P

Well, then all you have to do is pre-reg, like, now, (go to sca.org and follow the links from there) and also pre-reg for disabled camping, and say that you have difficulty walking due to un-healed injuries from a recent car accident on the form. And wow, wouldn't WE make a team. Gimpy, Limpy, and mr Held Together By Rubber Bands (Google Ehlers-Danloss Syndrome).

And no, you don't have to work for Honour. That's just me and Alex, by virtue of being related to her.

PCA is a Personal Care Assistant, but it sounds like you NEED one, not to BE one! Yikes!

Hole in the Wall. Aigh. Is the ONLY song that every musician knows that comes to pennsic and can play for the dancers at the barn. So if you're near the barn, you get to hear it about 9000000 times. In Alex's case, since he's been camped directly across from the barn since he was 10, multiply that by 12 years. Whenever he hears the song, he breaks out in hives....

Oh her! I don't normally think of her as particularly unbalanced, ranty or crazy but then I've had very little first hand experience with her. Unfortunately she's fairly deeply entrenched in the end of "Baltimore Fandom" that you are largely estranged from.

LUMSFS is *NOT* a Baltimore Fan club. LUMSFS is historically a College Park/Washington DC area Fan Club and as such I don't really feel that a few estranged "Balti-Morons" are any justification for you to feel unwelcome within LUMSFS. Were you local I'd certainly invite you to join MUMSFS which is my personal solution for those who like me feel that LUMSFS would be better with a fewer obnoxious people. MUMSFS: The M is for MANNERS :-)

I'm not even sure I'm up to going to Pennsic at all, but now you have opened the door a bit by making me feel I even have a place to be when I get there and a reason, even if it is only a "Bamboo" reason. I suppose I don't feel disabled enough to justify handicapped space but on the other hand I may be useful to the degree I am not.

You say I'd need to pre-reg NOW to qualify for disabled camping. This is sounding less like a private encampment then. Maybe I'm just confused. I may look into it.

Well, okay not NOW-now, just by the 15th of june. Otherwise you have to pay the at-gate fee.

$75 for novels

I'll send ken or another friend to pick them up - but I can really use them That's the main way I destress from school

Doubt you'll say yes, but I'll up my offer to $150 and you can drop them off if you don't want me or my friends near your house (Just remember - I am no longer working at the church, I work in Arlington, so dropping them there won't help)

I refuse to believe any of my friends referred you to this offer, therefore you are not eligible. I'm afraid no amount of money is worth the anxiety you seem so expert at dishing out. If you could only refrain from behaving like a total headcase I'd happily give the books to you.

For someone who claims not to be obsessed with me, you certainly seem to check out my journal a lot.
