DHS (Department of HomeLand Security) Harrasses LJ users - One person's lack of compassion does not equal another's comfort.
One person's lack of comprehension does not equal another's consent.
DHS (Department of HomeLand Security) Harrasses LJ users
You'd think you'd have heard about this before with all the outspoken people on LJ that the DHS (Department Of Homeland Security) should have harrassed and LJ user before, but now you have proof.

The following link takes you to the LJ entry of an LJ user who has not only been harrassed by the DHS but has a record for it as a result, has consulted and attorney and is expecting to be possibly placed on No Fly lists simply because this (then) 23 year old woman was outspoken on LJ.

In case you are wondering how I found this, I was attempting to search for stories similar to a story you may recall from last year when a toy store owner was harrassed by the DHS for selling what they (falsely) claimed were illegal rubik's cube knockoffs in her store. Not only were they wrong about the legitimacy of her product but their is this other issue of jurisdiction. First we give a new law enforcement agency all the power of a facist regime and then we let them go out enforcing expired patents?

This is the google search I used please note that there appear to be nearly 500 stories just about that abuse of that one toy store owner but if you start looking at them you find that it is merely used as an example of a class of governmental abuse such as in that example of the abused LJ user.

This next link is useful if any of the above makes you wish to emmigrate to CANADA

I've seriously been looking for colleges and work in Canada, when the day comes I don't want my children to be born American. This country is well on it's way to falling like Rome. It's sick what DHS does and I know that's only skimming the surface.

There's been rumor than in the coming weeks there's going to be a bigger torture scandal that makes Abu Gharib look like a tea party. We're trialing Sadaam Insane for crimes against humanity and it feels more and more like America is doing all it can to match his reign.

Thank you for sharing my sentiments, it seems like all my peers are so desenistized to these matters that they hardly blink at the carnage. What a strange strange country we live in.

If I finish at Berea with four years' weaving experience, I may be able to go to Canada as a skilled craftsperson...and I know someone with land in Prince Edward Island that I may be able to rent for a time. I've been seriously thinking about it for a while now.

that LJ link is actually rather old news. I may be wrong, but I think it was also exposed as a fake at some point.

Like I said... I may be wrong about that. I don't have a link to anything about it, it's just a vague memory of reading something somewhere that indicated the whole thing was a bad joke. *shrugs*

It wasn't a fake, if I recall - this was a year or so ago, no? She'd gotten into a snarkfest after Bush had something about feeling people's prayers, and written something praying for his demise, or better yet, his demise of an anyeurism whilst in a compromising position with an underage minority child. And went on for some time about how much she hate hate hates him, then asked for more ideas of prayers.

(wouldn't be able to find it on a bet now, but someone had a screenshot of the original post; it was pretty vitriolic.)

Anyway, someone playing stupid teen games reported it to secret service as a threat, at which point they really didn't have much choice in the matter. They came by, established that 1) she was a teen chica , 2) this was written in jest and 3) she wasn't completely off her rocker and likely to escalate if her prayers weren't answered. Then they left.

They have to investigate once called, and they can't assume anything based on just what's written; they investigated and found a lack of credible threat. This did create an FBI file; whether it puts her on a no-fly list is indeterminate.

I remember that anniesj shite. One of my friends did a REALLY hilarious parody of that post. Good times.

Also if you want to emmigrate to Canada, some of the kind people there have offered to marry an American. That's the cache because it looks like the account has been suspended. :(

I heard about it when it first happened.
