Anti-Abortion angle to Anti-Sex-Toy laws
While looking up the article explaining how Texas now has laws making the possession of five or more dildos a felony, I discovered this interesting article explaining the strategy behind the law and how it relates the right wing's intent to curtail abortion rights.

And here is an entertaining article on that subject

This video called The Dildo Diaries explains not only that under current Texas law, the sale of dildos (as such) is illegal in Texas but it also goes on to explain how anti gay legislation in Texas led to the reinstatement of heterosexual sodomy laws in Texas regardless of circumstance.

Texas, the state so eager to ban gay marriage that the wording of its 2005 law banning gay marriage could be construed to ban all marriage.

For your further amusement this site of stupid evolution quotes gives further insights of the mentality of people bent on squashing anything that they perceive as contrary to their religion. I especially like this quote, Also at stake are the morals of our children, because if evolution is true, there are no moral absolutes and only the strongest have a right to survive. If evolution is true, abortion, euthanasia, pornography, genocide, homosexuality, adultery, incest, etc., are all permissible.

I suppose it is possible these people really had incompetent teachers who so glossed over the subject that the students were left to believe that evolution is like a straight staircase and not like climbing across a debris field. Mutations are seen every day in humans, sheep, pigs, cows, fish, cats, dogs... most of the most obvious mutations result in death. Many go completely unnoticed and those which benefit the species and continue are what we call "Evolution". Arguments that evolution is false because cows don't give birth to kittens and apes don't give birth to humans merely announces to the world that American schools don't teach subjects well that they disagree with.

I do not understand how laws banning sex toys or "deviant" sexual practices (i.e. not missionary position) ever make in onto the legislative floor, nor why vibrators and oral sex are a threat to morality, but "gentlemen's clubs" are not. Reason and consistency don't apply, and one would think that legislature would be one forum where they would be required.

Texas, the state so eager to ban gay marriage that the wording of its 2005 law banning gay marriage could be construed to ban all marriage.

That would be just fine with me--it comes out to legal equality, either way. Either the government can recognize all marriages between consenting adults as legal, or they can recognize none; it's the picking and choosing I have a problem with. Making marriage strictly a religious and social institution works just as well as legalizing gay marriage.

Also at stake are the morals of our children, because if evolution is true, there are no moral absolutes and only the strongest have a right to survive. If evolution is true, abortion, euthanasia, pornography, genocide, homosexuality, adultery, incest, etc., are all permissible.

This harks back to the faulty logic as that used by C.S. Lewis in Mere Christianity--that the only reason to have a code of morals and ethics is if there is a god who has defined right and wrong. It very simply does not stand up to scrutiny.

On a more editorial note, I find it abhorrent to link pornography and homosexuality with genocide and incest.

Very well said, liandriel.

I agree. What makes that statement offensive is the assumption that people who do not get their moral handed to them in the bible are therefore immoral people. By definition every "Civilization" on earth, by "Definition" has laws and with them some set of legally enforced moral code. That particular civilization may or may not condone homosexuality.

I would like to turn around the last subject and say it another way.

Though I personally do not tend to believe in a "Supreme Being", I do however, not believe that "God" would not have himself created all this "fake" evidence to support the theory of evolution but rather would have CREATED evolution as a means of allowing the great story of life on earth to play out and adjust for change of environment and populations of various species.

I would then go on to say that I also do not believe a great deal of what is in the bible, but if the bible were proven true, it would mean that despite current U.S. laws to the contrary, that Polygamy is permissible, Divorce and premarital sex are not, and that we all really need to start stoning the gays instead of just protesting at their funerals.
