Introduction
I've been aware of Live Journal for at least a couple years now and have visited the pages of several friends as well as members of a mailing list I am on. Only recently have I become interested in joining.

Welcome! There are lots of excellent communities on here. That's how I've met a lot of my friends. Some of them I know in real life, too! :)

Also, feel free to cruise my friends list. You may find some like-minded people there, too! ;)

Communities?

I'm still learning my way around. I feel like I opened a closet door and entered into a large train station.

As for cruising, reading and replying, I'm really finding all this sort of intimidating.

It seems to me like there are lots of depressed people here. Is it the nature of Live Journal? The time of year? The war? Is it my own depression making everyone else seem depressed when they really aren't?

I hope I get the hang of this. Live Journal seems like a bright idea, sort of a like social version of Ebay.

Just wait, someone will invent a Live Journal "Scraper" to find expecially cool people and someone else will design a "Journal Sniper" to make cool comments before anyone else can think of them. :-)

Re: Communities?

It's a lot to deal with at first. I started out by just doing a search by interest, and I looked at the communities that came up. I also read the person's journal who added me, and I think I found a couple cool people that way.

Don't feel you HAVE to jump into the fray. It's a lot of fun.

As for the depression, yes. A lot of people use LJ to vent and to seek advice, and a lot of people use LJ the way one would use a regular diary. I also think that most LJers, you'll find, are Creatives, and depression seems to be common in Creatives.

Are you depressed because things with C went the way you thought they were going to? I'd call you tonight, but I'm leaving for Stones Rising tomorrow, and I have a lot to do. You can email me if you want. :(
