AOL does something INTELLIGENT! (for a change)
Yahoo IM is my preferred method of IMing. AIM is OK but I miss Yahoo's features. I keep both loaded at once for my non Yahoo friends.

In the past couple of months I became really annoyed with those ads in the top of the AIM window to go berserk if I floated my mouse over them by accident and even closed AIM to shut them up. I was considering disabling AIM completely.

I guess that I wasn't the only one who was irritated. I would imagine that people who used AIM as their sole method of IMing were fuming by then because somebody must have complained. AOL added features like buttons "stop pause play and even mute" to the tiny window.

They have also added a larger window which will pop out if you click on the tiny window if you are REALLY INTERESTED and want to see clearer what is being advertised.

The movie being promoted today, a romance film called "If Only", seems really sweet. I hardly ever go to see movies (Only seen one Harry Potter and not even in the theater). The larger window helped and if you click on that it brings up a full page ad including a detailed description of the film and the characters as well as a bio on each actor, and photos from the film.

Though I'm annoyed with AOL for really annoying AOL users the way they did, I'm pleased that they acted as rapidly as they did to not only correct their mistake but to reexamine and even develop their ad window into something useful and even desirable. If other ad supported companies had windows like this they would not be considered such an annoyance.

AOL sux...

try gaim (http://gaim.sourceforge.net)? It'll connect you to AOL, without all the suck.

i'm really surprised you don't know about clients. you can run numerous messengers as well as multiple screennames from one program. i recommend gaim for windows or adium for mac.

I recently altered my settings to screen all comments from "non-friends". Anonymous comments naturally fit in that category. I've received two Anonymous comments, were they both from you or am I just popular with anonymous users?

And you are assuming I don't already know about IM clients. In fact, I've used two already; One I forget the name of under window and a Linux version of Gaim. The reason don't use them normally is that silly as this may sound, I actually *like* the Yahoo IM manager and the AIM manager has not irritated me enough yet, although it came very close recently.
