When you think about it, marriage didn't used to permit divorce. Divorce was an invention of the English Church. All these angry Christian who oppose allowing gays to marry should also oppose divorce.

This is the long awaited post. For nearly five days I've been telling my friends of my intent to post this expose of the false charges of voter fraud against Acorn. This is currently the most likely approach that will be used this election to disenfranchise legitimately registered voters who currently and enthusiastically wish to cast their votes for Obama this election.

The only way to prevent the Republicans from stealing this election is to be aware of this and, in my opinion, to protest against the unreasonable requirement of use of federal IDs before permitting citizens to vote. It might have been reasonable if presented several months ago, but there simply is not enough time left for everyone to get the sort of ID the Republicans are currently demanding.

I was beginning to believe Obama had a GOOD chance of taking this election, but the recent Republican misrepresentation of voter fraud on the part of the Democrats may just be enough to turn the tables on us.

I would like to refer you to three websites:

1) One by MoveON which describes the misrepresentation currently taking place

and

2) People for the American way, who is also justifiably concerned about the rhetoric that McCain is dishonorably claiming about Acorn. If he's qualified to run the country, he should certainly realize that HE IS LYING!

And I might amend that title to include the "Less Visibly" handicapped, as there are some people who behave as though those who can stand up or walk short distances are not in fact handicapped at all. Just ask the people whose cars have been vandalized by others claiming that they gained their handicapped tags under false pretenses, or as in this example, because the owner did not appear handicapped and the vandal failed to notice the tags. These are the sorts of stories I hear from handicapped people nearly every week. It appears my Segway has made me an unwilling ombudsman for them. They also tell of being verbally assaulted by people who make them justify their legal use of these spaces. If these same people had Segways, they could park further out in the parking lot as I do, and leave those handicapped spaces free for those with more serious handicaps. But I digress.

I was responding to a rather bizarre comment to a previous Segway related entry, when I realized that it would be more efficient to post this most educational information as a fresh entry and link it to my post, the Segway Compliance Record entry under the title of "Why Segways deserve to be accommodated for the handicapped". This TED vid featuring Segway creator, Dean Kamen, apparently filmed in 2002 reveals how the creator came to realize how well received Segways might be to the elderly who have mobility issues not necessarily relating to a particular "disability".

That vid ends with a section regarding a device they are working on which operates on propane and provides electricity for the Segway while also purifying water for drinking in countries where potable water is not as common as it is here in the US.

This other article I found shows that further innovation is being made to make the Segway even more useful to the more severely handicapped, further blurring the lines between what people consider a wheelchair and what people consider a scooter. I'd be truly surprised if DisneyWorld would dare to try to ban THIS from their parks, despite their insistence that legitimately handicapped people may not be permitted to bring Segways into their parks.

While browsing more such vids I also found this interesting Michelin tire design vid which appears to give the segway much better shock absorbing capability than its current pneumatic tires currently provide.

Now totally unrelated, this video of an amazing robotic prosthetic arm for handicapped veterans, also from Dean Kamen is really amazing.

In this tripped out Republican article, Newsmax compares Imus referring to the women’s basketball team at Rutgers University “nappy-headed hos” to Obama's Pastor's very GROUNDED and reasonable charges that the United States has had some terribly unfair, unethical and sometimes CRIMINAL policies, both foreign and domestic.

In case anyone has not actually seen the Reverend Wright speaking, I'm enclosing this video of his purportedly worst comments.

In the coming days I hope to post follow ups to this in which I will bear out most, if not all, of this Pastor's charges as both true an reasonable.

My point is that speaking the truth about the callous actions committed against other BY the United States is NOT the same thing as speaking out AGAINST the United States as a whole. You can't cure anyone's problems by ignoring their misdeeds. I see nothing wrong with pointing out where this country has behaved badly as a nation.

In my opinion, any presidential candidate who is NOT aware of this country's misdeeds would be unqualified to lead this country.

... and not Against America's Deeds?

Outside of saying "God Damn America", everything I've read suggests that this Minister simply has a very accurate international perspective.

How is it wrong to say that the reason America is at risk from terrorism is in any way due to our country's actions? I realize the majority of American citizens are spoon fed this sugar coated idea that we are faultless victims of hateful ideologies of a few Middle Eastern countries, but how is it possible that the (hopefully) more educated Republican media is apparently so entirely unaware of the truth of this minister's statements? Abortion law would give fathers a say State legislators propose change; opponents blast bill as 'extreme',

I would ONLY support such a law if the other laws made it a legal requirement of the "father" to support the woman financially during the pregnancy, and made a failure to pay for the support of the child after birth a zero tolerance jailable offense.

The problem remains that even with such extra conditions, if the father is not identified or is totally unknown (don't ask) the woman is then not granted the abortion.

This is the sort of stupidity we are fighting. This is why the Republicans cannot be allowed to win the White House again! EXTREME right wing Republicans say McCain is soft on abortion. Trust me, he's not nearly soft enough!
